Ledger Nano S Plus Hardware Wallet Review 2023

We did a Ledger Nano S Plus review, a “successor” or the upgraded version of the Ledger Nano S hardware wallet.

Ledger Nano S Plus has more memory storage1.28 MB, than the Nano S – only 138 KB, which means you can install more apps – wallets using the Ledger Live.

While you can fit only 3 apps on your Ledger Nano S, and I did 2 first is the Bitcoin:

Ledger Nano S Plus allows me to have much more. I have installed the Cardano wallet (app), Bitcoin, Ethereum, and 2 more and I still have a lot of space (depends on the app size also):

Ledger Nano S Plus uses the USB-C cable to connect to the device, just like the Ledger Nano X, and a new secure element ‘ST33K1M5C’.

It has a bigger display than Ledger Nano S which makes it easier for you to see and confirm the transactions.

But how does the Ledger Nano S Plus stands against the Ledger Nano X?

Despite some similarities, these two Ledger hardware wallets have some differences also.

Nano S Plus vs Nano X Similarities

Both hardware wallets have a 128 x 64px screen, but Ledger Nano X has a bit nicer design. They both support over 5,500 coins and tokens, and their app Ledger Live runs on all operating systems: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

When it comes to security, both hardware wallets use the very sophisticated Bolos operating system, and all apps on the device are ïsolated from each other. The chip is highly secure with the EAL5+ certificate.

You are able to use all Ledger Live features with both wallets.

Nano S Plus vs Nano X Differences

Ledger Nano S Plus does not have a battery. It means it needs to be connected to the device in order to use it.

Ledger Nano X on the other hand has a very good battery so you are able to start it without connecting it to a device. Ledger Nano X also has Bluetooth which is a very convenient feature, while the Nano S Plus doesn’t.

Ledger Nano X has a better-looking design with smooth edges and a matte finish.

Ledger Nano S Plus is cheaper than Ledger Nano X.

Ledger Nano S Plus Review Conclusion

Ledger Nano X is still superior to the Ledger Nano S Plus when it comes to features and is topping our 16 best hardware wallets list.

However, Ledger Nano S Pus can perfectly serve the purpose of keeping your coins and tokens fully safe. It’s cheaper than Nano X, so it is also an excellent choice to be used as a backup wallet.
